Land Use Mapping in Bucharest

Surveying and mapping land use is a fundamental skill for geographers and environmentalists. The aim of this exercise was to investigate and map the land use in a part of the old city centre of Bucharest.

Students were asked to use the classifications listed below. These are based on a classification system devised by the Geographical Association and the Institiute of Terrestrial Ecology for a national land use survey in Britain in 1996.

  3. Commercial and business uses
  4. Industrial premises and utilities
  5. Public institutions
  6. Tended open space
  7. Derelict and waste land, and buildings
  8. Land in transition
  9. Did not survey/ unable to see

Maroon
Aqua Green
Shocking Pink
Green-blue
White
