Sketch Profiles

A profile is a cross-section or slice of the landscape. It is drawn in two dimensions. You can draw profiles for all types of study. Urban profiles are often used in land use studies. Valley profiles can help in understanding physical and human processes.

Points to Remember

When drawing profiles, look for:
  high and low places
  major changes in landscape
  places that are similar
  convex or concave slopes
  shapes (building design)
