Aerial Photography: Interpretation

There are three important factors that are different to our everyday interpretation of photographs, such as those we see in newspapers etc.

1. Features are portrayed from an overhead, and often unfamiliar, perspective
2. The frequent use of wavelengths outside the portion of spectrum visible to the human eye
3. The depiction of the Earth's surface at unfamiliar scales and resolutions.

Look at these images of the Carrizon Plain in California, USA. These photographs are taken from different perspectives and show the area of Dragon's Back in the North Elkhorn Hills. Consider the difficulties you may have in interpreting these comparing the 'traditional' photographs with the aerial photographs.
