Grazing by domestic animals, especially sheep, is very important to the vegetation of Snowdonia. The woodland has

Mat Grass dominates here, due to the acidic nature of the rock (rhyollite) and glacial drift. The former support about 1 sheep per acre, the latter 2 or more. |
