| Cwm formed by erosion of a glacier. Twll Du (Devil's Kitchen), dark cleff in centre of cliffs marks the bottom of the syncline, known as the Snowdon Syncline. These features, plus the plant life led to the declaration of 984 acres as a National Nature Reserve. Llyn Idwal occupies the floor of the Cwm. It is half a mile long and 300yds wide. Two subsidiary Cwms open onto Cwm Idwal via Hanging Valleys at a higher level. |
